SEIJA LUKKALA - LOVE TO TEXTILE

The love of textile and worry about consumption made Seija Lukkala an entrepreneur who broke the norms and reformed the concept of a quality textile. Vihti born Seija Lukkala founded Globe Hope because she wanted to do something concrete against the mass consumption of textiles. In the early days of 2000 the textile industry had moved to cheap production countries and it had brought the mass consumption of clothes and accessories also to Finland. READ MORE...

Seija Lukkala believed 15 years ago that Finnish recycled textile could become a timeless and durable design product. At the turn of the millenium textiles were consumed over natural resources: disposable culture had reached already clothes and accessories. The idea of reusing abandoned materials was born. It was 2003 when first collection of clothing made of recycled materials HOPE was represented at Vateva (Finnish Fashion) fair. The concept collection made of recycled army and hospital materials got a contradictory reception: informative consumers had fall in love, buyers were confused and the fashion industry was more than surprised.
