Globe Hope is an innovative Finnish design company that makes ecological design out of recycled materials. Globe Hope re-defines used and leftover materials, turning them into unique design clothes and accessories. All Globe Hope production relies on sustainable development, thus a part of Globe Hope's mission is to offer people an ecological and sustainable choice. globe Hope wants to encourage people to a more sustainable and nature-friendly way of thinking. Globe Hope’s collections that consist of clothing and accessories save and reuse nature’s resources and respect ethical production. Globe Hope’s main goal is to design goods that are aesthetic, functional and idea-rich - the use of recycled materials is a bonus. Globe Hope's ideolody can be summarized in three keywords: ecology, ethics and aesthetics.

All Globe Hope products are made as close to the headquarters in Nummela as possible. Nummela is the place where design, marketing, design and sample production, storage and administration are centered. The Globe Hope factory outlet is also within the same premises. The production itself is done by subcontractors around Finland and Estonia. Estonia still has more textile industry left and is just next door from Finland. When we produce as close to home as we can we can also keep the emissions as low as possible.

Globe Hope launches two seasonal fashion collections per year. On top of the seasonal collections we have our Classic collection that consists of a wide variety of bags and accessories that have been the favourite and best selling products in the past. With the seasonal collections we want to keep up with the time but do not follow superficial trends. On top of our own collections we cooperate with numerous companies producing them tailored business gifts and promotional image products.

The idea of Globe Hope was born in 2001 when Seija Lukkala got fed up with the fast-paced textile industry wth its disposable trends and such. She’d been involved with the textile industry for 13 years with her company SL-Studio, making fake fur coats. Seija got frustrated with the mad consumption pace that was, and unfortunately still is going on in the world, especially within the textile industry with its seasons and trends. She started to think about how she could use her expertise to act in a more ecological and sustainable way. Slowly the idea of Globe Hope grew into clear plans and from there on into actions.

The first collection was launched in 2003 under the brand Hope. The collection was aimed at young trendsetters who value ecological thinking, sustainable development and were interested in quality fashion and making a statement with what you wear. The first collection was presented at the Vateva exhibition during Helsinki Fashion week. The reception was phenomenal! Hope was noticed in the Finnish press and also instantly got a big client from Japan. A couple of years later the brand name was changed to Globe Hope.

Since then Globe Hope has been awarded many times for its work in the field of ecological fashion and design. The company that is run by Ceo Seija Lukkala has been the recipient of many prizes along the years: Amnesty International’s Designer Of The Year (2005) and the prestigious Suomi Palkinto for outstanding performance in the field of Art and Culture, awarded by the Finnish Ministry Of Culture (2006). Since the beginning of 2008 Globe Hope products have had the privilege to bear the Avainlippu symbol for outstanding Finnish production and skill.

Nowadays Globe Hope employs nine people full time at its headquarters in Nummela. Globe Hope has established itself in the field of ecological businesses in Finland and is a valued partner. The difference between Globe Hope and other companies working with recycled fabrics is the fact that Globe Hope works with a more industrial touch. In the recent years Globe Hope has become a popular producer of business gifts and tailored image gifts for big corporations.

The Globe Hope team isn’t afraid of new challenges – we have a few innovative interior design projects to prove that! The Globe Hope collection is sold around Europe and in Japan. In May 2010 one of Globe Hope's long-term dreams came true when the first Globe Hope shop was opened in Helsinki. The shop is furnished with recycled production furniture from the old Nokia gumboot factory.
